Zandra turned to the second page. “I’ll read out Eric’s version. He’s one of the restrained ones. Solicitor for Miss Daniels, brilliant young Sydney man, Mark Stewart, won this case with an immaculately presented collection of evidence that convinced the District Court Judge – and anyone attending – that Sir Ralph Oliver had interfered to prevent Miss Daniels from obtaining a coveted film role, which Stewart held was a denial of her right to employment under Australian Common Law, the International Declaration of Human Rights and the doctrine of Promissory Estoppel. In a superb closing address he left no doubt in anyone’s mind that Mr. Justice Towers would find for the litigant. It is understood an appeal will be made, but with the skill of Mr. Stewart on her side, Miss Daniels is thought unlikely to lose. No wonder Eric said he lived in the fast lane.”
